The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center (OSUWMC) is one of the largest and most diverse academic medical centers in the country, and has ranked as one of “America’s Best Hospitals” for 20 years, according to the U.S. News & World Report. Prior to working with Charity Dynamics, OSUWMC had relied exclusively on traditional fundraising channels, such as personal solicitation, community-based events and Annual Fund direct mail. During the launch of their major Capital Campaign, we were able to help OSUWMC to develop their first-ever digital fundraising strategy, taking into account the marketing and educational goals of the broader institution.
Strategy Consultants at Charity Dynamics completed a full Digital Fundraising Audit of the medical center, which included documentation and evaluation of existing staff, technology tools and business practices. Outputs of the audit were used to make recommendations towards investments that would build a successful and sustainable digital program. In addition, we implemented online peer-to-peer community event software that integrated with the larger institution’s database and web-based Year End fundraising promotions.

- Year-end giving to key unrestricted funds doubled
- 122% increase in number of gifts to OSUWMC Cancer Center
- 137% increase in total giving to Cancer Center
Charity Dynamics also worked hard to decrease the required investment for OSUWMC without negatively impacting growth projections, which resulted in a successful and sustainable online fundraising program. The organization, which had previously believed that these online tools would be too costly to be beneficial, now had a solid foundation and road map upon which to continue to build their digital donations.
The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, central Ohio’s only academic medical center, is a leader in personalized health care and continues to serve as an early adopter of university-wide digital tools and practices.
