What Works

It happens to the best of us: Your event website is aging fast. Yet, your event participants expect it to be innovative and engaging. How do you make the right updates for a fresh, compelling site?

Give Your Fundraising Event Website a Lift!

First, take stock of your website. Review the following typical problem areas to identify your largest opportunities for improvement:

  • User experience — Is your site as easy as possible for participants to use?
  • Registration — Is your site optimized for driving new registrations?
  • Donations — Are participants using your event site to raise as many funds as you’d like?
  • Retention — Do event site users return year after year?

If you answered “no” to any of these questions, it may be time for a site “facelift”. Here are a few things to consider:

Go more than just skin deep
Captivating images go a long way toward freshening your site. But, to really take your website to a new level, you need more than just a cosmetic change. Your entire website should be personalized — from registration to crossing the finish line. It should provide coaching and recognition of success each step of the way, based on each participant’s involvement with the event. And, it should incorporate social media functionality to allow participants to get involved conveniently.

Be a show-off!
Once you’re donning your new look and functionality, show them off. Let your supporters know about the changes you’ve made for them. Engage them by pointing out the new tools available to them to support their fundraising efforts. Draw in new supporters with compelling messages and designs that coordinate with your new look.

Entertainment Industry Foundation engaged with Charity Dynamics to take its Revlon Run/Walk website to a new level by optimizing Convio TeamRaiser and making the site more moving and interactive for site visitors. Using poignant imagery from last year’s events, Charity Dynamics built a new website that brings an emotionally engaging experience to the cause. In addition to photography, the site goes deeper to feature participants’ personal stories, easy navigation, convenient log-in, personalized coaching, and more.
