Food For The Poor wanted to extend its prayer ministry and support their international relief programs using mobile technology.

Food for the Poor in Your Pocket

Due to Apple’s restrictions on fundraising through iPhone Apps, Food For The Poor took a two pronged approach to achieve their goal:

  • Launched an iPhone App "Live Prayer" to p promote a culture of prayer through immediate call backs, email, or weekly prayer devotionals; and
  • Madethe Food For the Poor website mobile friendly to improve the the usability experience for their mobile constituency who want to financially support Food for the Poor programs

Result:

  • Food for the Poor’s mobile friendly website launched at the end of January 2011
  • In the first 6 weeks, Food for the Poor saw a 246% increase in donations originating from mobile devices; and
  • A 267% increase in the actual number of mobile transactions compared to heavy year-end giving months of Nov - Dec 2010.There have been over 1,500 downloads of the "Live Prayer" iPhone Application
